Per Erik Kvam, GNSS group project manager at Kongsberg Seatex, presented in the Annual EGNOS workshop the status of the Draft Guidelines for manufacturers for the implementation of SBAS in Shipborne Receivers which are being developed thanks to the collaboration of multiple EGNOS stakeholders.
To further progress in this work, GSA set up the 24-month MAREC project (managed by Kongsberg), contributing to standardisation for SOLAS and non-SOLAS applications, both for navigation equipment and for AIS. The goal is to provide guidelines for the implementation of SBAS in maritime, and to contribute to work on test specifications. Finally, Mr Erik Kvam talked about test standards and future equipment testing.
