EGNOS in World ATM Congress

EGNOS was present once again in World Air Traffic Management (ATM) Congress which took place in Madrid between 6 and 8 of March to connect the world´s aviation industry.

The world's largest air traffic management event, gathering more than 200 exhibitors and 100 sessions, counted on an EGNOS stand attracted by many visitors interested in GNSS concepts and applications in aviation sector. A cockpit simulator contributed as a demonstration tool to show how EGNOS can improve landings by reducing delays and increasing safety.

During the three days, attendees were able to find out the latest information in relation with EGNOS implementation status, test the EGNOS Application in their smartphones and take a look at the new EGNOS User Support Website.

The main remarkable event was the presentation ‘Discover EU funding opportunities worth €300 million....and be part of it’ to inform about the funding opportunities from Innovation and Networks Executive Agency (INEA) and GNSS Agency (GSA).

Firstly GSA presented the third Call For Grants ‘Egnos Adoption For Aviation’ to inform about 10M€ available to promote Egnos. Afterwards, it was introduced the call for proposals from SESAR (INEA European Agency) with a total budget of 290M€ to fund those activities improving ATM performances. Finally, a Helios project was presented to show a success story of EU funding in GNSS.

After the session, EGNOS awards were given by European Satellite Services Provider (ESSP); in this edition, FerroNATS (Spain) and the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA - Greece) were recognized by the EWAs signed and their cooperation to increase EGNOS operational approaches in those countries.

A networking drink concluded the day allowing participants to interchange experiences related to EGNOS.
